Welcome to My Studio!
My name is Julius Hafsteinn, and I’m an oil painter from Iceland who works primarily in landscapes and portraits. My inspiration comes from the natural world, from faith and history. My goal is to connect people, through my particular interests, with timeless stories that often seem lost in our ever changing world.
Painting, for me, is a way to connect with creation and our history. It’s how I try to understand the world, to honor what is sacred in it, and to share that sense of wonder with others. Through my work, I hope to remind people that beauty has meaning, and that it still has the power to move the human heart. My fascination with historical themes comes from a longstanding desire of mine to connect the threads of history to our modern lives. Inspiring heroism, faith, struggle, glory and sacrifice for a greater good, to people who share those passions and want to reignite them in our day and age.
My studio is based in Iceland, though I also spend time painting in Poland, where my wife is from. I’m open to commissions and always happy to discuss new projects or welcome visitors who wish to see the creative process up close.
