Welcome to My Studio!
My name is Julius Hafsteinn, and I’m a painter from Iceland who works primarily in landscapes and portraits. My inspiration comes from the natural world, from faith and history, and from the timeless vision of the 19th-century Romantic and history painters who saw art as a way to reveal beauty and truth.
Painting, for me, is a dialogue with creation and our history. It’s how I try to understand the world, to honor what is sacred in it, and to share that sense of wonder with others. Through my work, I hope to remind people that beauty has meaning, and that it still has the power to move the human heart. My explorations of historical themes are a way to connect with deeper modes of existence, something beyond what the modern world has to offer. A thread through time, connecting heroism, faith, struggle, glory and sacrifice for a greater good.
My studio is based in Iceland, though I also spend time painting in Poland, where my family and faith have deepened. I’m open to commissions and always happy to discuss new projects or welcome visitors who wish to see the creative process up close.
